This is regarding a child named NILA 6 months old, female (ID-21794122) a case of posterior fossa cyst with triventricular hydrocephalus / Acientobacter ventriculitis underwent Venticulo- peritoneal shunt and external ventricular drain placement for hydrocephalus and had shunt infection and CSF leak at KKTCH in December 2023. She was discharged from KKTCH and admitted in G-block PICU of SRMC on 09/01/24.She underwent wound debridement by plastic surgeons. Ventriculo peritoneal shunt removal and external ventricular diain removal and port-cath placement for IV access on 12/01/24. She underwent skin flap wound repair by plastic surgeons and external ventricular drain placement by neurosurgeons on 17/01/24 as there was CSF leak. Her wound swabs have grown Aceitobacter. Her Blood cultures shows growth for Burkholderia and Candida tropicalis. She is currently treated with IV antibiotics for ventriculitis and is on anti-epileptic drugs for seizures. She underwent Ventriculo- peritoneal shunt placement on 19/02/24 and on PICU care since admission They have already spent nearly around 4 lakhs and child will require PICU stay for another 2-4 weeks which may cost around 2-3 lakhs.
